Super Cute things

This is a picture of my old hamster, Chris. He's one of my cutest pets. Today I was introduced to a site that only has cute things.cuteoverload.com There is a cartoon of a cat just doing the silly things house cats do. It's cute and funny for anyone that likes cats.

Collection of Vintage American snapshots by Robert E. Jackson

Plywerk, a green Portland company that prints your art onto bamboo mounts, brought this show to my attention. They mounted my 3 images that I will be showing Aug. 6th at EWF Modern. Plywerk hand-crafted 40+ enlargements of Jackson's images for this show.

Head over to Ampersand this Wednesday and Thursday for the opening of "Out of the Booth" and check out images from the Robert E. Jackson collection. Jackson has assembled what many consider the foremost collection of vintage American snapshots, a studied activity that culminated in 2007 exhibition at the National Gallery.

Robert E. Jackson Opening @ Ampersand
Wednesday July 29th, 6 - 10pm@NE 29th & Alberta

I didn't do any hair for this, but I'm hoping to gain inspiration from the images at the event:)

Katherine Heigl New Color!!

Katherine Heigl saw celebrity stylist Kim Vo for a makeover. As so many of my friends and clients know, I've been wanting Izzy Stevens(her Grey's Anatomy character) to become a brunette for maybe 2 or 3 years now. I guess the show prevented her from changing her color. But, now that Izzy is on chemo and possibly leaving Grey's she had the freedom to make the transformation!!!

I love her warm cinnamon brunette. It makes her skin look radiant and accentuates her dark eyes. I'm hoping to take some of my clients in this direction this August/September through fall.

Back To Stylist School :)

Today I taught a private updo/event styling class at Salon Capelli. We went over 3 types of anchors, 3 types of braids, 2 types of curl/wave with a flat iron, pinning the hair with different sized bobby pins/hair pins, crimping with a pin, building volume, sectioning an updo, a fast bun, 2 types of french twists, and more. All in a 3 hr. individual lesson complete with manikin heads and our lovely hair model. We were able to do 2 complete updos 1 manikin and 1 model and many different partial updos displaying techniques.

I've taught this class 5 times now, and this was the first private lesson. I found it much easier to watch and explain exactly how to hold the curling iron to hind the ends of a curl, little tricks to make the curl more polished and uniform with the flat iron, and it was easier anticipating and answering questions. We were able to cover a great deal of information in a short period of time.

Perfect for new stylists, seasoned stylists looking to update techniques, makeup artists or salons. Please contact me through my website for upcoming classes or to schedule a group/private lesson. I promise it's fun!!
