Michael Kors 2010 Trends

One of my friends had the honor of going to a private party showing of Michael Kors S/S 2010 collection in Seattle. She brought home a lookbook with all the styles, so now I'm having a great time thinking about the upcoming season!

Most of these images are from his runway show. Hair looks simple, but this look is very planned. Extensions need to be added in for girls of different lengths, hair has to be kept smooth and free of flyaways. They do not come in looking like this. All of the hair for his show was done with a deep side part on the opposite side from what we saw at this years Oscars. The texture is kept clean and smooth to allow for a sleek, youthful look. Michael is all about clear, light accessories and a color pallet of seafoam, glacier, wisteria, mint. And crisp black and white.

I love this tiny belt.

The models wore a thick, clear band to hold their hair in place and add interest. One thing I love are the Lady Gaga inspired "blown up pearls" I'm interested in seeing how these take off.

Congratulations Emily and Ross!!

Emily and Ross were married in Portland on a beautiful sunny day this February...surprising weather for us during this time of year:) The day could not have been more perfect. Here are a few images Emily sent me of her hair, makeup byAustie Eckley. Thank you my dear. I love them. More can be seen on her Photographer, Lauren Brooks' blog. They are worth checking out to see her flowers, her cute Jackie Kennedy jacket, her ruffled bolero, and the tiniest peep toe heels. Every detail is exquisite.

Deep Side Parts

These are 2 images on different lengths featuring a deep side part and loose waves. I wish on the longer haired model I would have swept it to one side like the leading ladies in this years Oscar trend. Live and learn:)

A little bit from the Spring/Summer 2010 runway hair trends...

Alberta Ferretti had an old Hollywood glam feel with the front brushed up and open with the back in a sculpted finger wave tied low into a chignon.

This season's Chanel collection is inspired by farm life looking back to Marie Antoinette's dream of a farm life with her country life in Le Petit Trianon. The hair is up and loose with bits falling out from days of playing farm.

Lanvin came up with a style that I would like to wear. It is smooth on the sides a trick that can be accomplished with light hairspray after hair is pulled into a ponytail. Then hair is back combed for fullness and wrapped into a wide bun almost the entire width of the head.

Louis Vuitton created a bouncy afro by combining 6 wigs wrapped on a small curling iron then teased out. I love working with new textures and exaggerated styles.

Just somethings I found interesting today:)

Enjoy.

Best Hair goes to.... drum roll please with some cheesy jokes...

My Favorite Oscars hair:

Best Actress winner, Sandra Bullock along with Hollywoods leading ladies: Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, and Julianne Moore wore their hair in an elegant side part mirroring Lauren Bacall's classic look. A deep side part and soft wave through the ends gives more of polished, classy feel. Middle parts which we saw more at the Grammy's are sexy with a more casual feel.

Middle = Rock & Roll Side = Hollywood Legend

On some the side part starts on the side and trails toward the middle diagonally. On others it can go straight back. Just play around with what works for your face. The secret is a great shampoo, conditioner to bring out the hair's radiance, not dry or dulling. Followed by a great blow out to polish the ends and add the right amount of volume. Followed by a large curling iron or rollers to smooth all the hair together and compact the cuticle to reflect the most light. Lots of shine spray or a silicone through the ends and product to keep all the fly aways in check (try Pureology ShineMax)

Clothing/Hair inspired by Asian Horror Fims

I love that these two are sisters...My sisters Erica and Maria would play with me like this..We would draw clothes, style each others hair and makeup, and play with any dolls we could find.

Now I still get to play and look for inspiration. This video made me realize another reason I love fashion shows...It's a chance to see the back of the hair complementing the clothes, usually photo shoots the back doesn't really matter as long as the flow from the front and sides looks good.

Enjoy~
