A little bit of magic from the attic
These are the first images released from a shoot we did in the attic of my apartment building. It was a lot of fun with a great team. I got to create texture with an old coworker of mine, Lindsay Garcia....
I love how Brandon captures Sarah's sexiness in hair, vulnerability of hiding in hair, and the fun of throwing and playing in hair. It's a great little series so far!

Models with Passion
This is a video I found on photographer Cully Wright's facebook fan page.
The magic behind a good photo is movement, acting, and providing a range of different emotions. I believe this is one of the reasons the modeling industry has moved more towards using actresses in place of models. This has been a shift since our last great Super Models: Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Iman, and Linda Evangelista ect. The agencies and TV created a lifestyle that everyday women dreamed of...wealth, sunny beaches, parties, gorgeous clothes, shoes, men, and fame all for being a woman with the power to entice. If models could build a persona for viewers to relate to they could steal the show back from their onscreen competitors.
Agyness Deyn is one example of a working model who conveys huge personality.
Others who have built a name through their modeling: Kate Moss, Gisele Bundchen... and tv personality models Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks who have brought great attention to the modeling and fashion world.

InStyle Hair
So, this morning at the grocery store I saw InStyle Magazine has a special hair issue!! I had to grab it!! This afternoon I spent the day laying in the sun in a hammock on Sauvie Island reading all the juicy details....It felt like summer vacation when I was in middle school:) There is something really nice about reading a magazine and actually turning the pages outside instead of just scrolling around online.
One of my favorite photo series were the celebrities changing their hair lengths and colors over the years...
InStyle goes over how to dress up a bun, the right headbands, ribbons, and adding fake hair.. products like dry shampoo...
I encourage you to try tips like using irons, hot rollers, back combing, different parts, and just stepping outside of the box slightly:)
I will be wearing my hair up like this a lot this summer!!
This issue of InStyle will be at the salon all month until one of my lucky clients takes it home:)

Physical Element Fashion Show
On April 22nd I had the opportunity to work with a great hair/makeup team on Jo Carter's Physical Element, "Catwalk Show"
For hair, Dayna Cakebread designed looks and textures created by Australian hairdresser Kevin Murphy who has produced a line of products, techniques, and rollers. The styles were soft, feminine waves. Texture plays a big roll in this seasons hair trends. Rollers, curling irons, rag waves, and perms are coming back into style. Different, natural textures are popular not as much of a Shirley Temple, or uniform curls but various curl formations in one style. We pinned the long hair into faux bobs, loose to the side chignons, down with volume in the lower back to compliment hats, and smoother styles with volume for short hair. One thing I like is having most of the volume in curls at the level of the eyes and sides, flatter on top, and less weight in the ends.
happy hair.
