Side Bun Ideas

My wonderful little sister Maria is in a wedding next month in Virginia...She asked for a website that has different side buns with some volume and bangs...I thought this was a great opportunity to help her and get a small selection for this seasons brides and bridesmaids...And, all of you lovelies going to some super fun weddings this summer...

One idea when looking for styles to show your stylist is to consider your hair type and what celebrities have similar hair or facial features.. Or, someone whose style you admire..Google their name and search for all the images of how they have ever worn their hair..This is easier than finding a blog of hairstyles. Chances are at the awards shows they've attended over the years you can get a lot of different angles of the same style and see how you would like bangs up, down, with volume in different places, or different wave patterns..

Here are Michelle Williams and Natalie Portman, two beautiful women that appear often on my blog. If you have fine to medium texture hair, between chin/shoulder length search for pictures of these stars when looking for inspiration.

If you have thick, full, long hair with some wave look to Eva Longoria or Mischa Barton for style ideas..

For naturally curly hair that can be smoothed out easily...kind of fine and thin check out Nicole Kidman...But, keep in mind a lot of her styles extensions and hair pieces have been added.

Consider where you want the volume ,the bun, and back combing for fullness throughout the style...Look at pictures of Carrie Underwood for volume ideas..She loves big hair!!

20's Glam Wedding Hair

A few times a year I get to do finger waves...This was one of my favorite weddings. Holly and her friends were so much fun!! Holly brought in pictures for her bridesmaids and mothers to get ideas from following a 20's, 40's, 50's kind of Mad Men theme.. They were all living in the moment and embraced the looks..If you only get to go to a vintage wedding once, then you better live it up!!

Crazy Days with Carl Evans

Summer Days skating inside...hhmmm....how carefree and smokin hot.. Our little LA roller derby girl Megan on her whirlwind tour through Portland..


Megan and I first met when she walked the runways for Portland Fashion Week..Now she acts and models in LA. Way to go girl!!





Julene is great esthetician and tango dancer! Happy Birthday right around the corner!!





And, Carl...what should I say about Carl, but Carl F*^king Evans you always turn out some killer images!! And, I can't forget the chocolate cake...Thank you Erin...love you:)

One of my fav. shoots

Would you believe her hair was blown out and flat ironed at the salon before she showed up for the shoot...These curls don't just happen:) They were done in the Sam Villa curling iron wave technique, and they were gorgeous..I would love to try these waves again on someones hair that had some natural texture or air dried, but not flat ironed first.. SO, SO PRETTY!






It was super freezing that day..Kacy was in town from LA, and she couldn't believe how cold it was...I could hardly believe it myself... But, we were all determined to make the shoot happen and to find some sunshine!! I think it was a beautiful success!!

Jennifer Aniston's New Hair

So, what's the word in the salon? Jennifer Aniston's new haircut!! How many of your clients have asked you for this? I love it!! A fresh, sophisticated, sexy long bob..Still with her signature sandy color..I think it's fresh and a great updated look for summer...

You know..She used to be known for the "Rachel" earlier in her career, a cut based off of a character she played..Now she is known by her own name "Jennifer Aniston's new haircut" I think she has some pretty badass hair, and she has proven to be a strong woman!

Thank you so much for your comment..I agree these aren't the very best pictures of Jennifer Aniston, but they do show the line and shape of her cut as well as color..This is just one way she could style it..So, when my clients bring me in that gorgeous retouched image I will show them these and see what it might be on a normal day..A day when they look like Jen, Barbara, or just a their pretty little selves with this long bob..

I know this video is super cheesy..But, I remember listening to it a million times on MTV growing up in Pennsylvania..MTV always felt like they were having such a fun time all the time...I love summer music!! And, of course salt water, wavy summer hair, and a tan!!
